Chennai Super Kings suffer disappointing loss against Rajasthan Royals
Chennai Super Kings had a poor outing against Rajasthan Royals in their recent game of the IPL 2023. They suffered a 32-run loss and slipped down to no 2 in the points table. Bowling first, they had no answers to the onslaught by Yashasvi Jaiswal at the top who scored 77 runs.
Despite taking the wickets in the middle, they couldn’t maintain the momentum as they kept leaking runs. A finish by Dhruv Jurel (34) and Devdutt Padikkal (27) helped RR post a mammoth total of 202 runs on the board.

Chasing the target, CSK lost wickets at regular intervals but Ruturaj Gaikwad (47) and Shivam Dube (52) kept them in the game with vital knocks. They however couldn’t get going during the fag end of the innings as they struggled to time and even MS Dhoni didn’t come out to bat.
Shaun Tait wasn’t happy with MS Dhoni not coming out to bat and said on ESPNCricinfo: “Watching MS (Dhoni) sit on the boundaries when they need sixes… I was like, ‘Can someone get out?’”
“There’s this fear factor when MS is batting,” says Deep Dasgupta
Deep Dasgupta, who was also present at the discussion said that there’s fear among the opposition when MS Dhoni bats and he should’ve come early to bat. He said:
“There’s this fear factor when MS is batting. No matter whether he’s (on) 40 or 50, no matter how good a bowler you are, you’d still be thinking, ‘it’s MS who’s batting there’,”
Ms Dhoni has batted at No.7 and No.8 this season. He has played just four innings and has only scored 61 runs.
