‘I shouldn’t have celebrated the way I did’ Shaheen Afridi after claiming Babar Azam’s wicket
Shaheen Shah Afridi is counted amongst the best bowlers in white-ball cricket. The Pakistan speedster has reached great heights in a very short span of his cricket career. Afridi is currently exhibiting a brilliant show of fast-bowling in the ongoing Pakistan Super League. His crucial spells have played an instrumental role in helping Lahore Qalanders win 3 out of 4 matches played so far.
In the recent game between Lahore Qalanders and Karachi Kings, Shaheen Shah Afridi, once again, showed his class with the ball. He bowled brilliantly in the powerplay overs before bowling thunderbolts at the death.
In only his second over of the match, Afridi claimed the most important wicket of Babar Azam. The left-arm seamer bowled a brilliant in-swinger which left the stumps rattled. Babar Azam had no answers to it as he went back to the pavilion after making 5 off 5 balls. Karachi though batted wonderfully and scored 186 runs in the end. While other bowlers leaked a plethora of runs, Afridi ended with figures of 3 for 27 in his 4 fours.
His brilliant spell at the death helped his side restrict Karachi to 186 which at one stage looked like it would go past 200. However, despite Mohammad Amir’s brilliant spell at the start, Lahore Qalanders chased down the total in 19.2 overs.
Shaheen Shah Afridi earned the Man of the Match performance in the end. At the press conference, the seamer was asked about the conversation he had with Babar after the former got Babar out in his second over. To this, Afridi replied,
“Babar world ka number one batsman hai to usko out kar ke mujhe laga mujhe celebrate nahi karna chahiye.. is liye usko jaake sorry kaha.”
Lahore Qalandars is sitting comfortably at the second position in the points table with 3 wins in 4 matches. The Sohail Akhtar-led side will play their next game against Islamabad United on Thursday.
