“I don’t know what Bazball is,” India’s head coach Rahul Dravid plays down Bazball hype after huge loss at Edgbaston

Bazball theory, which has been brought into English cricket system by Brendon McCullum, has triggered a lot of debates and discussions

The Indian head coach Rahul Dravid played down the “Bazball” hype which has taken the English cricket by storm recently and is triggering a lot of debates and discussions in the whole global cricketing circuit.

When Rahul Dravid came to address the press conference after India’s loss in the Edgbaston Test, he was asked about his opinion on Bazball. Dravid said he doesn’t really know what that Bazball theory is, but what he knows is that England has played some very good cricket in the last 4 games.

According to Dravid, it’s never easy to chase down totals in the 4th innings of a test match, particularly in a country like England, but England has done it 4 times in succession which is something worth applauding, but one of the reasons behind that is that their attacking players have been in very good form.

When your attacking players are in good form, it looks good: Rahul Dravid

Rahul Dravid insisted when the attacking players of a team are in good form and their Strokeplay comes off, it looks very, very good and that’s what is happening with England at the moment. Their attacking players are in good form and when the opposition plays that well, it needs to be acknowledged.

Dravid was also asked if he would address the problems that India’s test teams have faced recently, he joked that the way India’s scheduling is at the moment, it’s hard for him to even find time to address the issues in test cricket because two days later, he will be talking about a completely different format of the game and completely different gameplans.

After this one-off test match on this tour, which was also the last test match of the incomplete test series last year, India will begin a T20I series against England in only 48 hours’ time. However, Dravid has been given a break for the first game of the T20I series and VVS Laxman will discharge India’s head coach duties for that game.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
