RCB had a good start to IPL 2023. Bowling first, they restricted Mumbai Indians to an under-par score and later chased it with ease. Interestingly, RCB did not have to use an Impact Player against MI. However, they would eventually have to use it in the next games. Their next challenge will be against KKR at the Eden Gardens on Thursday. Here, we take a look at two players RCB could try as Impact player if they bat first against KKR.
1) Akash Deep
Akash Deep was the fourth pacer in the RCB squad against Mumbai Indians. If RCB is batting first, they might have someone like Mahipal Lomror in the playing XI while a player like Akash Deep could be kept on the bench.
Akash Deep took the wicket of Rohit Sharma but became expensive later on. Nevertheless, Eden Gardens is his home ground and he has played all his cricket over there. Hence, it will not be a wise option for RCB if they do not use the services of Akash Deep in Kolkata.
2) Avinash Singh
Avinash Singh is one of the players RCB could try as Impact player if they bat first against KKR. Interestingly, he was not part of the squad against MI. However, if RCB is batting first, they will have a bowling-heavy bench and Avinash might be one of the options.
RCB lacks raw pace and although there is no clear data, Avinash Singh does seem to provide it. At Eden Gardens, this could be useful. Moreover, KKR’s batting line-up struggles against high-end pace and short balls. If Avinash can hit the deck consistently, he can even end up with a few wickets. He is also one player whom many are curious about. Not many have seen him in action and going by the hype, he will also be under pressure to deliver fast for the franchise.
