How Can India Women Qualify For 2022 World Cup Semifinals?

The India Women have got off to an impressive start in the 2022 Women’s World Cup in New Zealand. Playing under the captaincy of veteran batter Mithali Raj, the Indian women’s cricket team has won two out of the three matches they have played in the tournament.

The India Women defeated neighbors Pakistan Women in their tournament opener. Although they lost their second game against the home team New Zealand Women, they bounced back in style with a 155-run victory over West Indies Women earlier today.

Fans should note that the 2022 Women’s World Cup follows a similar format like the 2019 Men’s Cricket World Cup which happened in England. All teams are in the same group. They will play against each other once, and the top four teams will qualify for the semifinals.

It is still early days in the competition, so it is tough to tell exactly how India Women can qualify for the Women’s World Cup 2022 semifinals. But looking at the 2019 Cricket World Cup points table, one can estimate that winning more than 50% of matches should be enough for a semifinal berth.

India Women will play eight matches in the tournament, so if they win three of their remaining five matches, they should book themselves a place in the semifinals.

India Women will play their next match against England Women on March 16

India Women will play their fourth match against England Women on March 16 at Mount Maunganui. The game is scheduled to begin at 6:30 AM IST. England Women have a strong squad, but they are winless in the competition so far.

The English team has played two matches and lost both. They first lost to Australia Women in their campaign opener and then to West Indies Women in their second match. It will be interesting to see if England Women can win against the Women in Blue.
