Dominik Mysterio had his first title defence on the line as he put up the NXT North American Championship against Butch of Brawling Brutes. The Judgment Day star did post his title on the line against a seasoned Butch. However, the most obvious question that lies here is why Dominik despite being a WWE superstar is defending a NXT title on the SmackDown brand.
Though the reasons is exactly not clear but as reports say that WWE is trying to promulgate NXT as a brand of its own that features NXT flairs which is inclusive of champions, and also a few star performers to ensure that like Raw and SmackDown WWE is now trying to show NXT as a brand of its own.
There were multiple segments showing off the NXT stars and championship one of which was obviously Dominik Mysterio defending the North America title from NXT while the others being Carmelo Hayes, the NXT champion Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams were a part of a backstage segment with the Almighty, Bobby Lashley. Dragon Lee and Wes Lee who was the former North American champion had their own cameos too. NXT women’s champion, Tiffany Stratton was also seen present in the crowd too.
Here is what may go down between Dominik Mysterio and Mustafa Ali at NXT Tuesday
Just to give you all context, it was Wes Lee who dropped his NXT title to Dominik Mysterio that Dirty Dom defended against Butch. Wes was supposed to keep the title on the line against Mustafa Ali but his plans changed when Dirty Dom had him out of gas on this past Tuesday on NXT.
It was also made official that come July 30, Dominik Mysterio will be defending his title against Mustafa Ali on the July 30th which will also be his first title defence at a PPV hosted by NXT. As far as inside reports say, Dom will be meeting Mustafa Ali next week on NXT.
