Here is why Chris Morris is not a part of IPL mega auction 2022

Chris Morris played for RCB and Rajasthan Royals in the last two seasons of IPL respectively

The South African all-rounder Chris Morris fetched two huge deals in the last two IPL auctions, but he is not going to be there in the mega auction this time around. While many people are not aware of it, Morris has already announced his retirement from all forms of professional cricket and he is now starting his career as a full time coach.

Chris Morris, through an Instagram post a few days ago, let his fans know that he is going to hang his boots as a player and will take over as the head coach of the Titans, which is a very reputed domestic team in South Africa.

Morris was a part of RCB and Rajasthan Royals in the last two seasons of the IPL respectively. Both those teams paid a huge sum of money for Morris because of his dual ability with both bat and ball. But, barring a couple of performances here and there, Morris was not able to prove his worth and it was very likely that he was not going to go for a big amount in the auction this year.

Chris Morris struggled with fitness and form in the last two seasons of IPL

In the 2020 season of the IPL, Morris was largely affected by the injuries and he couldn’t play for a major part of the season for RCB. He was only available towards the end of the season and even missed a playoff game against SRH as well, which RCB lost and got eliminated from the tournament.

For Rajasthan Royals though, it was more a matter of form than fitness for Chris Morris as he was available for almost the entire season last year, but was just not in good enough form to make any sort of impact. He was also dropped from the playing XI of Rajasthan Royals in the middle of the season, as he was proving to be very expensive with the ball.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
