Roman Reigns vs Randy Orton is one match that the WWE fans have been waiting to see for a long time. Originally, this match was supposed to happen at SummerSlam 2022 when The Bloodline was feuding with RK-Bro over the WWE Undisputed Tag Team Championships. However, the plan was canceled due to Orton’s long injury.
The Viper finally made his return to WWE at Survivor Series 2023. After helping Team Cody Rhodes pick up a win in the WarGames match, the Apex Predator shifted his focus to The Bloodline again.
Many fans expected Roman Reigns vs Randy Orton to happen at Royal Rumble. However, WWE has announced a fatal four-way match between Reigns, Orton, LA Knight and AJ Styles for the Undisputed Universal Championship. Explaining the reason behind it, Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio:
“The original idea was Roman and Randy Orton for the Rumble. Essentially there were parties involved who did not want to beat Randy Orton this early and just felt that there’s money to be made with Randy Orton and Roman in a programme at some point, but it’s too soon to do it.”

When will Roman Reigns vs Randy Orton match happen in WWE?
As mentioned by Dave Meltzer, WWE plans to have a match between Roman Reigns and The Apex Predator in the coming months. Probably, the match can take place at Elimination Chamber in Australia or at a premium live event after WrestleMania.
The Rock has made his intentions clear to chase the Head of the Table, Roman Reigns on the road to WrestleMania XL. It looks like the Showcase of Immortals will be headlined by the two cousins. After that, perhaps, Randy Orton can chase the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship, with Backlash in France being a great platform for him to challenge Reigns.
