Bobby Lashley defeated Brock Lesnar to win the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble premium live event. Many fans had high hopes from the dream match, but it could not match the expectations because according to reports, Lashley worked that match while carrying an injury.
After some back and forth during the match, WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns interfered and re-aligned with Paul Heyman to cost Brock Lesnar his WWE Championship. Later in the night, Lesnar entered the Royal Rumble as the 30th entrant and won the match to punch his ticket to WrestleMania.
WWE then traveled to Saudi Arabia for the WWE Elimination Chamber premium live event. On that show, Lashley defended his WWE Championship inside the chamber against Lesnar, Austin Theory, Seth Rollins, AJ Styles and Riddle, where Lesnar emerged victoriously.
The company made a huge announcement afterwards that Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns will be a Championship Unification match at WrestleMania 38. Now, some fans are wondering why Lashley is not a part of the match because he did not get pinned at Elimination Chamber. Even if he got pinned, he would have got a rematch.
Bobby Lashley has reportedly been ruled out of action for 4 months
At Elimination Chamber, WWE booked Lashley to suffer a kayfabe injury while standing inside the pod. The WWE medical team took him backstage before he could enter the match. This was done to keep Lashley away from physical competition. He has had a shoulder injury for weeks, and now due to that reason, he will reportedly miss WrestleMania 38.
“From what I’m told, it’s for at least 4 months. Shoulder surgery. I’m hearing that he might not even make it to Mania,” former WWE writer Kazeem Famuyide said on The Ringer Wrestling Show.
It will be interesting to see when Lashley returns to WWE because he is one of the top Superstars of the company.
