Here is how SRH’s IPL 2019 campaign boosts RCB’s playoff chances in IPL 2024

With the 1-run defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bengaluru have all but put themselves out of contention for the playoffs. Nevertheless, a mathematical possibility is there for the Bengaluru-based outfit to still make it to the playoffs of the ongoing edition of the tournament. Also, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s record in IPL 2019 also further boosts RCB’s chance to reach the Top 4. On that note, here, we take a look at how SRH’s IPL 2019 campaign boosts RCB’s playoff chances in IPL 2024.

RCB’s playoff chances in IPL 2024

With seven losses and one win, RCB just has two points on the board. They have six games to go in IPL 2024. Even if they win all the matches, they will get to 14 points at the end of the tournament.

With the introduction of two new teams in the IPL, each squad now needs 16 points to qualify for the playoffs. However, this could change depending on how the games pan out in the next few weeks. Back in 2019, SRH qualified for the playoffs with just 12 points. That is, with just 6 wins, they managed to sneak into the Top 4. RCB will hope that the situation is such that they would also need a similar number to get to the Top 4. Of course, they must work on the NRR to make it possible.

The management needs to have an eye on the future

Winning the rest of the matches is a hard task for RCB, especially with the form that they are in at the moment. They will have to tackle the likes of SRH and CSK to get some wins. It looks hard at the moment.

Hence, the management must have an eye on IPL 2025 in the next few games. The likes of Will Jacks and Cameron Green are talented youngsters. They need opportunities to prove their skills. May be, RCB could offer that in the coming weeks.
