In the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India defeated Australia by an innings and 132 runs. With this, they have gotten closer to the finals of the World Test Championship. On that note, here, we take a look at how India can qualify for WTC Finals 2023 after the first Test win vs Australia.
India’s road to WTC Finals 2023 made easy
With the massive win over Australia, India needs two wins out of the remaining three games against Australia to secure a place in the finals of the WTC. At the moment, this seems possible. This is because of the kind of breathtaking form that the Indian Team is in. The Aussies are also looking low on morale right now.
On the other hand, India’s equation could also be made easier with the upcoming Sri Lanka vs New Zealand series. Sri Lanka is a challenger in this regard. Since the Kiwis are favourites, India could get a concession in their equation if a few results go their way. Hence, right now, all things are pointing towards an India vs Australia finals in the WTC.
India's emphatic #WTC23 victory over Australia now means the race to feature in the World Test Championship final this year is down to four teams π

The men in blue would still need the batting unit to fire
It was mainly due to the all-rounders and a stunning century by Rohit Sharma that helped India win the first game at Nagpur. Australia will come out hard in the next encounter and hence, the hosts will have to be wary of this challenge.
The batters need to step up in the next game. KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav and KS Bharat did not have a great game with the bat. Hence, they would like to justify their position with a solid show in the next encounter. While Axar did well with the bat, he must also do well with the ball. However, India will not be concerned about this right now.
