Here Is How Chennai Super Kings Can Still Make It To Playoffs In IPL 2022

Chennai Super Kings kept their hopes of qualifying for the IPL 2022 playoffs alive with a big win against the Delhi Capitals yesterday night at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. The Chennai-based franchise now has eight points to its name from 11 matches. The MS Dhoni-led outfit will play three more matches in the league stage.

According to a qualification scenario shared by a fan on social media, the Chennai Super Kings can still make it to the playoffs, but for that, they need to win their remaining three league matches. If they record a hat-trick of wins, the Chennai-based franchise will have 14 points to their name from 14 matches.

At the moment, the Gujarat Titans and the Lucknow Super Giants have 16 points each, and it looks like the two new franchises will probably finish in the Top 2. Either Rajasthan Royals or Royal Challengers Bangalore will have to lose all of their remaining matches to make sure that the Super Kings have a chance.

Both RCB and RR have 14 points each right now. If both teams record one win each, then CSK will be knocked out of the tournament. Here’s how the results of the remaining league matches should be for the Chennai Super Kings to qualify for the playoffs:

Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni discussed his team’s chances of qualifying for playoffs in IPL 2022

Speaking with Murali Kartik at the post-match presentation after his team’s win against the Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni said:

“One at a time is good enough. I’m not a big fan of math’s – I wasn’t good at it in school either. Just turn up for your game well, execute your plan and enjoy the game. You don’t want to turn up and feel the pressure. What’s important is to make the most of the remaining three games.”
