Seth Rollins has broken silence on CM Punk getting injured just before their WWE WrestleMania XL feud. Punk made his much-awaited return to WWE ring at a live event in December. He competed in this year’s Royal Rumble match as well, where he suffered a triceps injury.
Punk underwent surgery for the same, and he will likely return in the second half of the year now. As per rumors, WWE planned to have CM Punk win the Elimination Chamber match in Australia and challenge Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XL.
Rollins and Punk have had real-life heat in the past, which is why there was excitement among the WWE fans to witness this WrestleMania match. Also, this would have been the first WrestleMania main event match for Punk. Unfortunately for him, he will not compete at the Showcase of Immortals now.
Even Rollins is dealing with an injury, but he will reportedly be fit in time for WrestleMania XL. Speaking with Denise Salcedo at the WrestleMania XL Kickoff media event, Rollins shed light on his and Punk’s injury and said:
“I mean look one of us is a fragile old man and one of us is a a young stallion. So I’ll be back in a couple of weeks, he (CM Punk) will be back in a year or two till his next injury I don’t know. I’d love to kick the c**p out of him, I’m sure he’d love to get in there and try to do something to me but it’s not going to work.”
Who will fight Seth Rollins at WWE WrestleMania after injury to CM Punk?
With Rollins vs Punk match canceled, the World Heavyweight Champion needs a new opponent for WrestleMania XL. He is the world champion of the RAW brand, and Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes has already chosen WWE Champion Roman Reigns as his WrestleMania XL opponent.
In that case, RAW general manager Adam Pearce might book an Elimination Chamber match to determine Rollins’ opponent. Drew McIntyre and Sami Zayn are two of the top contenders to challenge Rollins at the Show of Shows.
