Former South African cricketer AB de Villiers has named his favourite player of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. What surprised many was it wasn’t Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav, who set the stage on fire in the league this edition. While Gill has over 850 runs, Yadav amassed over 600 runs.

Young Rajasthan Royals batter Yashasvi Jaiswal took the league by storm. The Southpaw has been one of the best batters in this year of the IPL as he has smashed runs for fun and was one of the main reasons behind the success of the Rajasthan Royals.
Yashasvi Jaiswal was quite aggressive batting at the top of the order as he has come out all guns blazing in all the games and gave his team a fiery start in all the games and eventually won the games for them.

Yashasvi Jaiswal has smashed two centuries and also smashed the fastest half-century in the league as he achieved the feat in just 13 balls against KKR. He ended the season with 625 runs to his name.

Ab de Villiers said that Yashasvi Jaiswal has got all the shots in the hood and is calm and composed. He also said why he picked him over Shubman Gill.
“Yashasvi Jaiswal for me and by a long margin for sure. He is a young player and has got all the shots in the book. He has a calm and composed temperament at the wicket and I love what he does, dominating the bowlers and always looking like he is in control. Shubman is a little bit older, I think Jaiswal’s got a long way to go, and he has all the credentials to become great.”
