CM Punk is one of the most popular wrestlers of all time. The Second City Saint made his much-awaited return to WWE at Survivor Series last year, and he is all set to compete in the Royal Rumble 2024 match on January 27 in Florida.
Over the years, CM Punk has worked with many talented wrestlers and pro wrestling personalities. One of the personalities with whom Punk worked was AEW member Jimmy Jacobs. Interestingly, Punk knew Jacobs since the time he was 16.
During a recent interview with Developmentally Speaking, Jimmy Jacobs opened up how Punk did not like him initially, but the AEW personality found a way to win the former WWE Champion over. Here’s what Jacobs had to say:
“I’d known CM Punk since I was like 16. He didn’t particularly like me, but once Shelley and I started working for Ian, Punk took a liking to us. He saw we were two guys that were hustling.”
“He said, ‘Hey, give me a tape, I’ll give it to Gabe [former Ring of Honor booker Gabe Sapolsky] and see if I can get you guys on Ring of Honor,'” Jacobs added.
Will CM Punk main event WrestleMania XL?
WWE WrestleMania XL will be the biggest show of 2024. The event is all set to occur in Philadelphia, and WWE is leaving no stone unturned to make it the biggest WrestleMania of all time. Like the last four WrestleMania shows, the Showcase of Immortals will be a two-night event this year as well.
In all likelihood, CM Punk will headline Night 1 of WrestleMania XL. He is expected to win the Royal Rumble match later this month and challenge Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the Grandest Stage of ‘Em All. It will be interesting to see if Punk wins the biggest match of his career.
