Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has suggested a change in Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batting order for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. He said that skipper MS Dhoni should bat up the order as he’s capable of scoring big runs.
IPL 2023: MS Dhoni batting lower down the order for CSK
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are having a staggering campaign in the IPL 2023. The four-time champions have won two out of their three games and are currently fifth in the points table. They suffered a loss in their first game against GT but after that, they have been enthralling to watch.
However one of the things that many are against is the batting position of MS Dhoni in the team. The keeper-batter had been coming down the order and is just getting to play 2 or 3 deliveries. Many fans and pundits have raised calls and urged the batter to bat up the order.

In the game against GT, the keeper batter came to bat at No.8, which was the first instance where he batted this low in the T20s. He played a cameo of unbeaten 14 runs in 7 balls and then in the game against Lucknow Super Giants, he batted at the same position and scored 12 runs in 3 balls.
Dhoni didn’t get to bat in the game against Mumbai Indians (MI) and with still a long way to go for the season, it is likely that he will keep batting at the same position.
IPL 2023: “He can make that difference,” Sunil Gavaskar wants MS Dhoni to bat up the order for CSK
Sunil Gavaskar also isn’t in the favour of MS Dhoni batting down the order. He said that the keeper batter should promote himself so that he gets to play three four overs. While speaking to Star Sports, he said:

“I am hoping MS Dhoni promotes himself higher in the batting order. So that he gets to play more than two or three overs in the games. He can make that difference for CSK with his batting because he is capable of scoring big runs.”
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will next be seen in action when they will lock horns against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their next game at Chepauk Stadium on Wednesday (12th April). It remains to be seen what will be Dhoni’s batting position in that game.
