The Indian captain Virat Kohli and the former Indian captain MS Dhoni, who is currently the mentor of the Indian team, were very gracious in defeat against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup last night. Their gesture towards the Pakistani cricketers in the aftermath of a terrible defeat has earned them accolades on the internet.
India were comprehensively beaten by Pakistan for the first time ever in a World Cup encounter. While the Indian team tried hard with the ball, the dew in the second innings made the job extremely difficult for them, and Pakistan batted to the best of their abilities as well.
Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni met Pakistani cricketers without any hard feelings after the game
However, once the match got over, the Indian captain went to Pakistan’s opening duo of Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam and congratulated them. MS Dhoni, India’s mentor, also came out and had a chat with the Pakistani cricketers without any hard feelings at all.
While the Indian fans were really disappointed by the defeat and it was obvious because it was a huge game against the arch-rivals, those gracious gestures by MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli were praised on the internet.
Virat Kohli was actually India’s highest scorer with the bat after they lost a couple of early wickets in the game. The Pakistani new ball fast bowler Shaheen Afridi bowled a couple of quality inswingers to the Indian opening duo of Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul and pushed India on the backfoot straightaway.
Kohli, however, resurrected the Indian innings with a good partnership with Rishabh Pant and got India to a respectable total eventually, but it didn’t prove to be enough at the end. With the ball skidding on nicely towards the latter parts of the second innings because of the dew, the Pakistani opening duo of Babar and Rizwan chased down the target easily.

Both MS Dhoni and @imVkohli maintained grace even in face of defeat.
Also, Pakistani players should be appreciated for interacting with one of the best cricketing brains even after winning and not being cocky about it. pic.twitter.com/6ovBB7bQID— Nabeel Hashmi (@iNabeelHashmi) October 24, 2021

The class shown by Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni in their behaviour with Pakistan players, especially the younger lads, is why they are held in such high esteem across the border. These are the actions we should be emulating, not spreading hate and abusing each other.
