“Good start for WC 23,” Twitter reacts as New Zealand wins the ODI series 1-0 against India

New Zealand defeated India by 1-0 in the three-match ODI series.

Fans on Twitter expressed their disappointment after India suffered a 1-0 loss in the ODI series against New Zealand. They took a jibe at Indian Cricket Team for their poor start to the Cricket World Cup 2023 campaign.

India suffers a 1-0 ODI series loss against New Zealand 

The ODI series between New Zealand and India kickstarted the Men in Blue’s preparation for the Cricket World Cup 2023 campaign. However, it wasn’t a fruitful start for them as they lost the series and more of that they displayed poor performance with both bat and ball.

The third ODI between New Zealand and India got washed off due to rain, which meant that the hosts clinched the series 1-0. The saw the visitors displaying poor performance. After they were asked to bat first, they failed to get going and struggled to time the ball.

Only Shreyas Iyer (49) and Washington Sundar (51) looked settled and thanks to their knock India went on to score a total of 219 runs on the board. After that, they failed to get going with the ball as well as Finn Allen (57) and Devon Conway (38*) stitched 97 runs for the opening partnership. And as the Black Caps were cruising to the win, rain played the spoilsport and the match was washed out.

Before that India suffered a thrashing 7-wicket loss in the first game as  Latham (145*) and Kane Williamson (94*), who stitched an unbeaten 221 runs partnership made a mockery of India’s bowling lineup and chased the target of 306 runs with ease to take an early 1-0 lead in the series.

Notably, The second game was also a washout as after the match was reduced to 29-overs a side, rain yet again played a spoilsport, leading to the match getting abandoned.
