It is yet another final for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. They defeated the defending champions Gujarat Titans at Chepauk to gain entry into the playoffs. GT made a debatable call by deciding to bowl first. They also gave the momentum early to the CSK openers which helped them make good use of the powerplay. Yes, the GT spinners brought the team back into the game but CSK had some timely contributions coming from the likes of Ajinkya Rahane, Ravindra Jadeja and Ambati Rayudu. They were not big knocks but they helped CSK post a decent score of 172.
With the ball, it was all about picking important wickets for CSK. The bowlers did a great job and with the likes of Shubman Gill getting out at key moments, it was all over for GT. With this win, GT will have to step up, especially with their tactics of sending Vijay Shankar late and giving a chance to Darshan Nalkande in the game.
Twitter reacts to the epic comeback by CSK
Last season, CSK had a terrible outing. At the auctions, too, barring the signature of Ben Stokes, CSK did not have too many positives. Hence, coming into this season, not many expected the MS Dhoni-led squad to do well. However, they did just that in this season. Their first game was not great but never lost momentum after that. They have now reached the finals of IPL 2023. Having done that so many times, with the experience in the bag, CSK would remain the favourites to lift the trophy.
