“Forgetting how well he kept in this match”, Tweet shows why KL Rahul is being unfairly blamed for the loss to Bangladesh in first ODI

India lost the first ODI to Bangladesh by a wicket. At one point, India looked set for a win. However, a brilliant last-wicket partnership by the hosts pulled them over the line. KL Rahul dropped a catch which could have helped India win the game. Hence, he is being criticised on social media. Here, we take a look at the tweet that shows why KL Rahul is being unfairly blamed for the loss to Bangladesh in the first ODI.

India suffers a loss to Bangladesh in the first ODI

Batting first, India could make just 186 runs. The top order, barring a minor contribution from Rohit Sharma, failed to take control of the game. Although Shreyas Iyer looked set for a big knock, a short ball led to his dismissal. Eventually, it came down to KL Rahul at No.5 to help India to a decent total. The lower middle order had a disappointing outing and there was a collapse. Hence, India had to settle for a low total.

Although Bangladesh had some good starts, none of the batters was able to continue to do well. Hence, at one point, they were reduced to nine wickets with the team still on 136. Mehidy Hasan was in top form as he constructed a great partnership with Mustafizur Rahman. Eventually, he helped his team win the match.

KL Rahul is being criticised harshly

KL Rahul dropped a catch which could have broken the final partnership. Since this was not possible, India lost the game. Hence, he has been receiving a lot of criticism. However, one tweet shows why all of this is unfair.

It needs to be noted that if not for KL Rahul‘s 73, India could have lost the game long ago. He was keeping wickets after a long time and yet, Rahul was almost flawless. The drop was a costly one but as seen in the next deliveries, most fielders failed to judge the ball in the air properly.
