2 English players who could be dropped for a long time after the poor show against India

England, after winning the first Test in Hyderabad against India, lost way in the competition. Since then, they lost three games and also lost the series. While the team did do well in patches, they were not able to land the decisive blow. This series will be reviewed a lot by the management. We could see some major changes for the next series for England. In the recent months, England has given a long rope for a few cricketers. However, this performance in India has not been good. The board will be desperate to correct this, especially after seeing England’s position on the WTC Points table. On that note, here, we take a look at two English players who could be dropped for a long time after the poor show against India.

1) Ollie Robinson

Ollie Robinson just played one game at Ranchi. While he did well with the bat, he was too disappointing with the ball. In the recent months, as well, he has done well in phases but has not been consistent. This could have a big impact on his career going forward.

England will be keen to integrate someone like Gus Atkinson in the future. Hence, Ollie Robinson could have his days numbered in the setup, at least for the near future. That said, Ollie is still in the plans for the moment.

2) Rehan Ahmed

Rehan Ahmed is one of the English players who could be dropped for a long time after the poor show against India. While he did well in certain phases, Rehan Ahmed just could not leave India with a memorable performance.

Also, England seems to have found Tom Hartley and Shoaib Bashir, who shall now compete for the spinners’ spots along with Jack Leach. Hence, we could see Rehan Ahmed miss out on the squad for the next series.
