Has Randy Orton Left WWE?

Randy Orton has been out of action for close to an year now. He had a back surgery last year and is on recovery mode till now. WWE wrote him off TV by making The Bloodline attack him post-match after RK-Bro lost their RAW Tag Team Title to The Usos.

There were some rumors of Orton’s return on the RAW after ‘Mania but only his RK-Bro partner Matt Riddle returned. Even Wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer’s predictions proved to be wrong here. There are still no indications of The Viper’s comeback and his contract is up soon.

WWE Universe now believe that maybe Randy is done for good. However, we should not forget that he had signed a five-year deal with the company.  PWInsider had reported on his contract in 2019. Allegedly, Orton was going to join WWE’s rival AEW because he was unhappy about the creative direction of his character. This led to WWE offering him a five-year contract to hold on to him.

The contract had him signed for a 80 shows per year deal, before his back injury sidelined him for an year. The WWE Draft returns after Backlash and Randy will be part of it as he has more than an year left.  Therefore, sooner or later The Viper is bound to make a comeback. With his teammate Riddle feuding with The Bloodline, he will probably enter the mix.

What is the latest update on return of Randy Orton to WWE?

However, Dave Meltzer gave some disappointing news earlier that Orton was “nowhere close” to an in-ring return. Orton’s injury is spinal, and he underwent surgery to fuse his lower back in November last year.

Randy and his wife Kim were posting updates on his recovery last year but they are both not very active this year. Therefore, it should be a while till we see the RKO again. But his extended contract says that we will see it for sure.
