Virender Sehwag Lashes Out At Eoin Morgan For His Heated Exchange With R Ashwin

The Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals IPL game on Tuesday involved a heated exchange between R Ashwin and Eoin Morgan on the field. After the game ended, commentators and cricket experts started taking sides on the topic. While many felt Morgan was right, a few also opined that Ashwin did the right thing. In this article, we take a look at one more narrative of the issue as Virender Sehwag lashes out at Eoin Morgan for his double standards.

R Ashwin – Eoin Morgan altercation has become a hot topic

When Delhi Capitals was batting, a ball thrown by a KKR outfielder ricocheted and went for an overthrow. R Ashwin called for the run and then completed it along with Rishabh Pant. A few moments later, after Ashwin got out, Tim Southee had a few words with the spinner. Eoin Morgan too joined the exchange. Later, Dinesh Karthik revealed that Morgan did not appreciate Ashwin running of a ricocheted ball.

Media in Australia and England lambasted R Ashwin for yet again breaking the spirit of the game. Later, when Ashwin took the wicket of Morgan, he celebrated wildly, which further added flesh to the context of the narrative.

Sehwag lashes out at Eoin Morgan

A few Indian cricketers stood by Ashwin and lashed out at Morgan for his double standards. Virender Sehwag took the reference of the final of the 2019 World Cup. In that game, the ball ricocheted off Ben Stokes’ bat and went for a boundary. This eventually helped England win the tournament. However, the English captain had then not talked much about breaking the spirit of the game.

In his trademark sarcastic tone, Viru wondered why Morgan did not bring the topic then. He humorously also said that Morgan sat a “dharna” outside the Lord’s and refused to lift the trophy.

Meanwhile, both Delhi Capitals and KKR are looking likely to reach the playoffs. While DC will be aiming for a top-2 finish, if KKR can continue their momentum, they can reach the final four.
