Zinedine Zidane and Sergio Ramos

Real Madrid has been in exceptional form since the return of football in Spain after a forced hiatus due to the current pandemic situation. Zinedine Zidane has displayed amazing progress this season with a Ronaldo-less side. They are the only La Liga team to win all their games post-return, scoring ten goals while conceding just two. With a win over RCD Mallorca, they are now back to the top of the table putting Barcelona behind on a head-to-head basis.

As the season progresses, speculations of players bidding adieu to the club manifest every now and then. One such player is the captain of Real Madrid, who is in his last year of the contract which comes to an end in the year 2020 and is perennially linked with stalwarts of the sport, especially with the Premier League giants.

Sergio Ramos who is having a phenomenal season with Real Madrid scoring eight goals for the club in their La Liga campaign and also commanding the defense fearlessly became the first defender to achieve this feat. He is the only player to score eight or more goals in a single La Liga campaign since Ezequiel Garay in 2006-07 for Racing Santander.

Speculations are claiming that Ramos could leave the club at the end of the season. The player wanted a two-year contract which is against the clubs’ policy of offering one-year contracts to players over 30 years old.

“Sergio belongs here as a player-” Zinedine Zidane

The titan has played 644 matches for the Los Blancos in all competitions, making him the player with the fifth-highest appearances for Real Madrid as a player. He has scored 94 goals and 38 assists which shows his goal-scoring ability as a Center back.

After the victory over RCD Mallorca, Real Madrid boss was asked many questions over the progress of the club and one such question was about the future of the club captain, Sergio Ramos.
