Five Players SRH should buy if released in IPL 2021 trade window

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) made the playoffs in the last season on the back of three consecutive wins against the top three teams but still, the team has many holes in their side. They had to drop Jonny Bairstow so that they could accommodate Jason Holder in the middle-order because the Indian batsman didn’t deliver. The likes of Manish Pandey and Vijay Shankar could have done better as Priyam Garg and Abdul Samad were still finding their way on the big stage.

SRH has a couple of holes to fill, and they will make sure that they do it before the next season of the IPL. There will be a Mini Auction and SRH will look to buy some good players but before that, they can get some good players in the trade window which will be open till February 4. So, let’s have a look at the five players SRH should buy if released in IPL 2021 trade window.

5. Jayant Yadav

SRH has a great Indian pace attack and the best T20 spinner in Rashid Khan but there is a lack of depth in the spin bowling options. SRH has Shahbaz Nadeem who is a left-arm spinner, but they don’t have a good off-spinner in their reserves. SRH can target an off-spinner and Jayant Yadav is a good option.

The right-arm off-spinner who is a part of the Mumbai Indians squad has got only limited opportunities with MI but has done well in the IPL. He can also offer some batting down the order even though his main focus will be his spin bowling. SRH can try and get Jayant Yadav as an Indian off-spinner in their squad.

4. Karun Nair

It is pretty much evident that SRH needs a solid Indian middle-order batsman to strengthen their team. As mentioned earlier, the likes of Vijay Shankar haven’t really fired which has let the team down in a manner. A player like Karun Nair can fit this role.

Nair has the experience of playing in the IPL and in fact he has captained Delhi Capitals in 2017. Nair is a versatile batsman and can bat anywhere from No.3 to No.5. Kings XI Punjab might just agree to this trade, and it could work perfectly for SRH.

3. Mayank Markande

SRH has the best T20 spinner in the world, but they don’t have a single Indian leg-spinner. SRH should target an Indian leg-spinner who can not only learn from Rashid Khan but also perform well whenever needed. Mayank Markande who had a great IPL 2018 is not a bad option.

Markande has shown that he has the potential to perform at the big stage, especially the IPL, and he isn’t getting chances in the RR setup. SRH can trade a player to get in Mayank Markande which would be a good move for SRH.

2. Deepak Hooda

Another Indian middle-order batsman who can play the role perfectly. In fact, Deepak Hooda was with the SRH squad till 2019 but due to lack of performances, he was dropped from the squad ahead of the 2020 IPL Auction. Hooda did well in the last IPL and SRH should go back to him.

He is one of those guys who can change the situation of the game, and he has done that before in the IPL. He can bowl a couple of off-spin overs which will allow SRH the sixth bowling option. SRH should think of getting Hooda back if KXIP is ready to release him in the trade window.

1. Manan Vohra

Manan Vohra had an excellent IPL with Kings XI Punjab but since then has never done anything special. Vohra is in the Rajasthan Royals squad but didn’t get a game in IPL 2020. He is one of those batsmen who can open the batting as well as bat in the middle-order.

SRH would like a batsman who can play both the roles, and he could be a perfect solution for the Indian batting problem. He is not an experienced player, but he has played enough seasons of the IPL to understand the nature of the tournament. SRH should target Manan Vohra if Rajasthan Royals plan to release him during the trade window.
