In the second qualifying round of the Europa Conference League the previous year, Slovacko was eliminated by Lokomotiv Plovdiv. This match was Slovacko’s first participation in European competition since the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 2002.
The Czech side will be aware that they face a formidable challenge in this two-legged tie, but a victory on Thursday evening would put them in a commanding position in the run-up to the second leg, which will take place on their own turf on August 11.
