India defeated West Indies by three runs in the first ODI at Trinidad on Friday. It was a thrilling encounter that went all the way down to the last over. After many years, the Indian viewers had to watch the game on DD Sports (on TV). Hence, there were multiple responses to the same. In the below section, we look at how Twitter reacted as DD Sports telecasts the India vs West Indies match.
DD Sports telecasts the India vs West Indies match
Neither Star Sports nor Sony has picked up the rights to telecast the home games of West Indies in India. Fan code has the streaming rights to the tournament. With no private network telecasting the game, DD Sports was the sole option for viewers on TV. Therefore, many had to tune into the channel. The same would continue for the rest of the series.
Meanwhile, India started off well with a win in the first game. Despite the absence of some of the seniors, India was able to bring up a score of above 300 in the first innings. Although the bowlers could have done better, the West Indies batters were up to the task and it was hard to stop them. At one point, it looked like the hosts would get the first win. However, the Indian bowlers held their nerve and helped the team win the first encounter. For his stunning 97, captain Shikhar Dhawan was announced as the Player of the Match.
Twitter becomes nostalgic
With the advent of streaming services and broadcasting using the latest technology, many had forgotten the situation of Indian fans in the past. At that time, DD Sports was one of the primary options to watch any cricket game. With the fans going back to this experience, there were plenty of reactions to the same. We look at some of them below:

Watching India v/s West Indies on DD Sports today was a refreshing change from the ad overload during T20s & IPL telecasts
Actually got to see the fielding positions switch, batsmen observe movement on field, bowler-umpire talk etc – minor details that made a big difference!
