3 events which happened for the first time in India Vs Pakistan Super 4 match in Asia Cup 2022

India lost to Pakistan in the Asia Cup last night after winning 4 back to back Asia Cup games against them

India didn’t lose to Pakistan for the first time in a cricket match yesterday. They have lost against Pakistan before and they have beaten Pakistan many times before as well, but there were certain events that happened for the first time in last night’s India Vs Pakistan game in the super 4 round of Asia Cup 2022.

Here are the three events which happened for the first time in the India Vs Pakistan game yesterday:

Rohit Sharma failed to defend a 180-plus total for the first time

Since the time Rohit Sharma took up the permanent T20I captaincy of India, this was the first time ever that India couldn’t successfully defend a total of 180 or more. Under the captaincy of Rohit, India has been consistently scoring big runs in excess of 180s and 190s in T20I cricket in the last few months and has been defending those scores. But it didn’t quite happen last night.

Rohit Sharma lost an Asia Cup match for the first time

This was also the first time that the Indian cricket team lost a game in the Asia Cup under the captaincy of Rohit. Rohit had captained India in the Asia Cup of 2018 as well when Virat Kohli was not available, and India had not just won both India Vs Pakistan games in that tournament, but they had also won the Asia Cup title itself. But, Rohit couldn’t keep his 100% win record in Asia Cup intact this time around.

Deepak Hooda ended up on the losing side for the first time

Deepak Hooda, since the time he had made his international debut for India, had been proving to be a lucky charm for the men in blue. Before the India Vs Pakistan game yesterday, Hooda had played 17 international matches for India, ODIs, and T20Is combined, and India hadn’t lost a single game out of that. But, luck seemed to run out for Hooda in his 18th game, as he finished on the losing side for the first time in his international career.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
