Anushka Sharma recalls the funny conversation with MS Dhoni

It was back in 2014 that Virat Kohli became the Test captain of India. The team was touring Australia and MS Dhoni announced his retirement from the game on that day. Hence, Virat Kohli took over the captaincy duties for the next game, and since then, he has been the permanent Test skipper for India.

Remembering the day when Virat became Test captain, Anushka said, “I remember the day in 2014 when you told me that you have been made the captain as MS had decided to retire from test cricket.
I remember MS, you & I having a chat later that day & him joking about how quickly your beard will start turning grey. We all had a good laugh about it.”

In his announcement note, as well, Virat Kohli mentioned MS Dhoni’s name and thanked him for his support in identifying the leadership talent in him.

A tough task to replace Virat Kohli

When MS Dhoni quit Test cricket, India had an able leader in Virat Kohli to replace him. However, Team India does not have that luxury at the moment. The Indian Test squad has either youngsters or senior cricketers. Hence, it will be a difficult decision to make for BCCI and the management. That said, at the moment, it looks like Rohit Sharma would become the Test skipper.
