AB De Villiers Set To Become Second Overseas Player To Achieve 5000 IPL Runs

AB De Villiers Runs: As the Indian Premier League slowly stutters into another week of bubble-bound cricket, one of the iconic cricketers of all time, A B De Villiers will be eyeing another milestone that very few have achieved until now. He is just 26 runs short of the milestone of 5000 IPL runs.

The South African legend is now standing at 4974 runs from 172 matches in the Indian Premier League. He will only be the second foreigner to achieve this milestone after David Warner being the solitary cricketer from outside India to have crossed that hallowed landmark.

De Villiers hasn’t really been a part of competitive cricket for quite a while and yet every time he has taken the field for the Challengers, he has expressed himself in the most artistic ways crafting strokes of the highest order.

On a surface like that of Chennai where the batters have found it excessively difficult to deal with the bowlers, he has scored 125 runs with a staggering strike rate of 190.

As RCB takes on second-placed Delhi Capitals today at the Narendra Modi Stadium, De Villiers will like to cement his place in the 5000-club.

Royal Challengers Bangalore will bank heavily on AB De Villiers’ knock

The Challengers had a fine tournament until now where they went on to win the first four games without any ado at all. However, they were taken by surprise and were thrown from the pole position after Chennai Super Kings got the better of them in an imposing fashion in their last game.

They will be eager to see their prime bowler Harshal Patel get back to form after him being dragged out in expensive fashion by Ravindra Jadeja in the final over of the innings that saw him hammering 37 runs.

This will be a dynamic clash as Kagiso Rabada and an in-form Amit Mishra will be coming into action against a raging AB De Villiers.
