Despite having good resources, Punjab Kings yet again failed to make it to the playoffs. Having learnt their less one more time, PBKS will have to be more shrewd in making their signings. They could make some wise moves to get the best squad for the next season. Usually not active in the trade window, PBKS could try that as well. On that note, here, we take a look at three under-used players of other franchises Punjab Kings must target for IPL 2024.
1) Shivam Mavi
Shivam Mavi made his India debut recently. He also went for a big sum at IPL 2023 Auctions. Yet, he has not had good game time at GT. In fact, he has not played for them.
Considering he offers good new-ball value, PBKS could look to sign him. They could then have their foreign pacers solely dedicated to the middle and the end overs.
2) Rovman Powell
Rovman Powell is one of the under-used players of other franchises Punjab Kings must target for IPL 2024. PBKS might need an extra batter on the roster. Yes, they would get back Jonny Bairstow next season but they might need someone for the lower middle-order.
Rovman Powell would be a good option in this regard. If Punjab needs raw power for this role, he would surely be a better fit than Shahrukh Khan. The Tamil Nadu player also did not do well in this campaign.
3) Kuldeep Sen
PBKS might need a right-arm Indian pacer of good quality going forward. Although RR may not release him, PBKS should still try to trade him.
A hit-the-deck bowler, Kuldeep would offer good variety in the middle overs. His presence would help Punjab reduce dependency on their foreign pacers. This would help them a lot when it comes to the balance of the squad. Hence, he features on this list.
