3 teams MS Dhoni might coach after his retirement from IPL

MS Dhoni is yet to give confirmation if IPL 2023 was his last in the competition. While many felt that the recent season was his last edition, as per a few reports, there are chances that he would also play in IPL 2024. Meanwhile, there is already a conversation on what role he would take up after retirement from the Indian Premier League. The role of a ‘Head Coach’ is obvious considering he is one of the greatest minds and tacticians that the game has seen. Here, we take a look at three teams MS Dhoni might coach after his retirement from IPL.

1) Chennai Super Kings

Stephen Fleming is the most successful coach in the history of IPL. Yes, he has the support of MS Dhoni but the former Kiwi has himself been brilliant with his approach and tactics. That said, eras do come to an end and if Fleming finds a better opportunity elsewhere, the position could become vacant.

MS Dhoni will, obviously, be a strong contender to occupy this position. He has all the attributes needed to bring success to CSK even from off the pitch.

2) Team India

The Indian squad is one of the teams MS Dhoni might coach after his retirement from IPL. It is unlikely that BCCI would extend Rahul Dravid’s contract after ODI World Cup 2023.

The best candidate to replace Dravid would be MS Dhoni. Firstly, he would bring optimism to the fans, who are slowly losing confidence in Team India. Moreover, the current crop of Indian cricketers are big fans of MS Dhoni and they might come into the path of MSD’s philosophy very soon.

3) Jo’burg Super Kings

Since MSD has not had official experience as a Head Coach, he could opt to try out his skills in this role at a lower-profile tournament. In this regard, he has an option in the form of JSK, which is owned by the owners of CSK.

The team can be built as per the ideas of MS Dhoni and assisted by a strong local representative such as Albie Morkel, MSD can do wonders as the Head Coach of JSK.
