Cricket has reached the stage wherein targets impossible a few years now seem very much achievable. Thanks to the rise in the T20 format, batters are now capable of hitting big sixes consistently. Therefore, the discussion has already started about the possibility of a triple century in ODIs. While it is a rare feat in Tests, if someone does it ODIs, it will be a top accomplishment. A few batters are capable of that. On that note, here, we take a look at three players who might score the first triple century in ODI cricket.
1) Jonny Bairstow
To score a triple century, apart from the raw force, a cricketer also has to be technically brilliant. He must be able to play the traditional shots apart from the T20 style of slogging. The player must also be preferably an opener.
Jonny Bairstow ticks all the boxes and hence, he features at No.1 on this list. On his day, it would be hard for any bowler to trouble the Englishman. Bairstow also has good stamina, which would allow him to work around the singles whenever his timing is not great. Considering England’s approach in white-ball formats, it won’t be a surprise if someone from the nation achieves the feat.
2) Ishan Kishan
I cannot put into words what I’m feeling right now but I’ll try. I’m overwhelmed by the love, the messages, the wishes. This is an innings that will stay in my heart forever, a day that I won’t forget, and these moments that I’ll always carry with me. Thank you for everything 🇮🇳 pic.twitter.com/xlNzuWxA4w

Ishan Kishan is one of the players who might score the first triple century in ODI cricket. Recently, the youngster became the youngest double centurion in the game. He got out for 210 runs and interestingly, there were more than 10 overs still left for the innings to conclude.
If Ishan had stayed at the crease till the end, he would have surely got that 300. Nevertheless, the Jharkhand cricketer has shown that he can do the unthinkable in ODIs.
3) Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma currently holds the record for the highest individual score in ODIs. A few years ago, he made 264 runs in an ODI against Sri Lanka.
His current form may not be great but Rohit is capable of touching the 300-mark. If the Indian skipper just has one day go in his favour, he has all the attributes to get a triple century in ODIs.
