3 players RCB could have picked instead of Kedar Jadhav for IPL 2023

RCB has surprisingly signed Kedar Jadhav as the replacement for David Willey for the rest of IPL 2023. It needs to be noted that Kedar has hardly played T20 cricket in recent times. In fact, he was doing commentatory in IPL 2023 and may not have been game ready. Yet, the franchise has gone for the 38-year-old cricketer. There are multiple options in the market that RCB could have considered. Here, we take a look at three players RCB could have picked instead of Kedar Jadhav for IPL 2023.

1) Luvnith Sisodia

The left-handed batter from Karnataka did not get a game in IPL 2022. He was released by the franchise and they did not pick him at the latest auctions. However, they could have tried him out again for IPL 2023.

Luvnith is an attacking cricketer and is good when it comes to intent. He is a youngster and since he is also a wicket-keeper, RCB could have used to test his skills for the future.

2) Karun Nair

Yes, Karun Nair was dropped from the Karnataka setup in the recent domestic season but he would have been a better investment than Kedar. Karun is more suited to the No.3 role, something that RCB is struggling right now with.

Also, in terms of age, Karun would have made more sense. Had he performed well, RCB could have also considered retaining him for the next season. The same cannot be said about Kedar, even if he does well in a few games this season.

3) Tom Kohler-Cadmore

Tom Kohler-Cadmore is one of the players RCB could have picked instead of Kedar Jadhav for IPL 2023. The English cricketer could have been an option since it was another foreign player who got ruled out.

Tom would not have got many games considering the overseas combination for RCB. However, for the future, they could have had him on the roster. This is a strategy that Mumbai Indians followed last season with Tristan Stubbs.
