3 players Mumbai Indians should target to trade before IPL 2023 Auctions

Mumbai Indians have endured their worst start to a campaign in IPL 2022. The five-time champions got their first win of the season after playing nine games. Considering the success that the franchise has attained in the past, there are bound to be several decisions in the off-season. In the past, MI has relied on trade deals to bring success on the field. The likes of Dinesh Karthik, Quinton de Kock and Trent Boult were all procured this way. Pulling off such deals depends on the salary of the player and the wishes of the other franchise. Of course, the player involved could also have a say. On that note, in this article, we take a look at three players Mumbai Indians should target to trade before IPL 2023 Auctions.

1) Kartik Tyagi (Sunrisers Hyderabad) – INR 4 Cr

Kartik Tyagi joined IPL 2022 late due to fitness concerns but he is currently warming the bench. SRH has a solid Indian core when it comes to the bowling department. None of the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan or Umran Malik can be dropped. Hence, Tyagi might have to be on the bench longer.

On the other hand, Mumbai Indians have struggled to find a suitable Indian pace partner for Jasprit Bumrah. For the next season, as well, this will be an important aspect. Basil Thampi and Jaydev Unadkat have not done well and hence, MI could look at the trade market for this slot.

2) Chetan Sakariya (Delhi Capitals) – INR 4.2 Cr

Chetan Sakariya is one of the players Mumbai Indians should target to trade before IPL 2023 Auctions. Similar to Kartik, Chetan is also not that busy at Delhi Capitals. It is only due to the injury to Khaleel Ahmed that he has got a few matches.

A left-arm seam option is required assuming that Jofra Archer will play IPL 2023. Chetan can be a good option here and therefore, MI can pursue the Saurashtra cricketer.

3) R Sai Kishore (Gujarat Titans) – INR 3 Cr

Going by GT’s tactics, Sai Kishore seems surplus at the franchise. However, Mumbai Indians need a reliable option in the spin department. Hence, the Tamil Nadu man is a realistic target for the franchise.

Moreover, Sai Kishore is also decent with the bat. This will add depth to the playing XI. He might not be able to replace Krunal Pandya but in a few years, the player can get to that stature.
