3 Players Chennai Super Kings Might Release Before IPL 2023

Defending champions Chennai Super Kings had the worst season of their IPL history this year. CSK lost 10 of their 14 matches and finished in the bottom half of the standings. For the first time in the league’s history, the Chennai-based franchise could not qualify for the playoffs in a season that was held in India. Chennai Super Kings are now looking forward to IPL 2023.

Captain MS Dhoni has confirmed that he will play at least one more season. The team management is also likely to retain stars like Ravindra Jadeja, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Moeen Ali, Devon Conway, Dwayne Bravo, Matheesha Pathirana, Maheesh Theekshana and others, but they may let go of the following three names from their current squad:

1. Chennai Super Kings may not retain Chris Jordan for IPL 2023

Chennai Super Kings signed England’s fast-bowling all-rounder Chris Jordan for 3.2 crores at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. Jordan was expected to be one of the top wicket-takers for the Super Kings, but he managed only two wickets in four matches. Since his economy rate was 10.52, CSK will probably release him.

2. Tushar Deshpande might not be retained by Chennai Super Kings for IPL 2023

In Deepak Chahar’s absence, fans had high hopes from the uncapped pacers present in the Chennai Super Kings team. Mukesh Choudhary and Simarjeet Singh were impressive, but Tushar Deshpande scalped only one wicket in two matches. His economy rate was nine runs per over.

3. Adam Milne

CSK will likely revamp its overseas pace attack for IPL 2023. Adam Milne played only one match in IPL 2022, but he has a long history of injuries. Since he is an injury-prone player, Chennai may look to release him and invest their funds in a fitter player who can play the entire season for the team. It seems unlikely that CSK will make major changes to their batting department.
