2 bold decisions Mumbai Indians should make for their next game in IPL 2023

Mumbai Indians are off to a terrible start in IPL 2023. They lost the game recently to CSK and there are already signs that the franchise could witness another IPL 2022. However, MI does have the resources to stop that from happening. For that, the franchise could have to take a few risks. On that note, here, we take a look at two bold decisions Mumbai Indians should make for their next game in IPL 2023.

1) Open with Cameron Green and Ishan Kishan

The opening combination of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan is clearly not working for Mumbai Indians. It is time for the change to happen and Mumbai has quite a few options to choose from.

Cameron Green was brilliant when he played for Australia as an opener against India. It would be a bold move by MI to give Green the same amount of freedom as an opener, especially when he is yet to come to terms with the expectations at No.3. Also, giving an inexperienced partner to Ishan Kishan could also be a risky move but at the moment, it looks like the best bet for MI to make the most use of the powerplay.

2) Use Rohit Sharma in the finisher role

Designating Rohit Sharma as the finisher of the squad is one of the bold decisions Mumbai Indians should make for their next game in IPL 2023. If Rohit is not the opener, then many might see him operating at No.4.

However, that role may not be suitable for him as he struggles against spinners. Tilak Varma is better for the role. Instead, Rohit Sharma can come in as the finisher, either after Tim David or before him. Rohit still has the ability to take on pacers and with all freedom given to him, he might come out with better contributions in this role. However, this is an extremely risky move considering MI and Rohit Sharma’s form but the franchise cannot afford anymore failures at the top.
