2 benched South African players who might get a chance in the upcoming IPL games

IPL 2023 is already past its halfway stage. However, a few popular players are yet to get a game in the competition. That said, these players could now get a chance with IPL entering the crucial stages and a few players leaving the tournament. On that note, here, we take a look at two benched South African players who might get a chance in the upcoming IPL games.

1) Quinton de Kock – Lucknow Super Giants

Quinton de Kock arrived late to IPL 2023 due to his commitments with South Africa. Kyle Mayers initially took his place in the LSG starting XI. Mayers has had a terrific tournament, so far. He has been scoring runs at a good strike rate. These reasons have now allowed LSG to bring QDK into the playing XI.

That said, the pressure would be on Mayers to continue his form. QDK is an experienced cricketer and has done well in the IPL in the past. With every game important from now on, LSG might take the decision of already including QDK in the playing XI. Hence, he features on this list.

2) Dewald Brevis – Mumbai Indians

Dewald Brevis is one of the benched South African players who might get a chance in the upcoming IPL games. After Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of IPL 2023, Mumbai Indians were forced to have two foreign pacers in the XI. Tim David and Cameron Green are also important and hence, the likes of Dewald Brevis and Tristan Stubbs have not got many chances till now. While Stubbs at least got a game in the early part of IPL 2023, for Brevis, it is yet to arrive.

However, seeing the struggles at the top of the order in recent games, MI could take a bold call of having Brevis in the line-up. Also, if Mumbai Indians fail to qualify for the playoffs, they can afford a game or two to the teenage cricketer.
