IPL 2022: 3 Players Mumbai Indians Might Play in Place of Suryakumar Yadav for the Opening Game

IPL 2022 has not started yet, but there is a concern already in the Mumbai Indians camp as Suryakumar Yadav is currently injured. Yadav suffered an injury while playing for the Indian cricket team during the home season. He missed the T20I series and the ICC World Test Championship series against the Sri Lankan cricket team because of that reason.

According to reports, MI will likely to have to manage without Suryakumar Yadav in their first match of 2022. Yadav was retained by MI before the auction, highlighting how important he is for the franchise.

Now that Suryakumar Yadav is unlikely to play against DC in IPL 2022, here are the three players who could replace him in the playing XI.

Punjab-based batter Anmolpreet Singh could play instead of Yadav against the Delhi Capitals on March 27. Singh has played cricket for India U-19s and India ‘A’ team. He has played a total of 37 T20 matches, scoring 503 runs.

Singh’s t20 batting strike rate is 106.79.. It will be interesting to see if MI try him in the first game.

2. Baby AB Dewald Brevis may make IPL 2022 debut replacing Suryakumar Yadav

In case Mumbai Indians decide to increase an overseas batter in their playing XI, they could hand Dewald Brevis his first IPL cap. Brevis came into the limelight during the ICC U-19 World Cup 2022 in West Indies.

Brevis can hit shots all across the park, similar to Yadav. MI can play with an extra Indian bowler if they go with this option.

3. Aryan Juyal

Young Indian wicket-keeper Aryan Juyal can make his IPL debut and play in Yadav’s place. Juyal has represented India U-19s in the past.

The 20-year-old has played five T20 innings in his career, scoring 67 runs. His batting strike rate is close to 125. Notably, he has smashed six fours and a six.
