One of the surprising picks made by CSK at IPL 2023 auctions was that of Kyle Jamieson. The Kiwi pacer did not do well in his stint with RCB and had anyways been struggling with injuries in recent months. Therefore, it did not make a lot of sense when CSK signed him up. However, a couple of weeks ago, Jamieson had another injury and he had to pull out of IPL 2023.
Sisanda Magala is the player who will replace Jamieson in IPL 2023. The South African pacer represented Sunrisers Eastern Cape in SA20 and helped the franchise win the league. Although he can hit a good pace, Magala’s USP is his variations at the death and his yorkers. After the retirement of Dwayne Bravo, CSK failed to make a signing at the auctions that could replace Bravo. Hence, there was a vacant spot for a death-overs specialist. It seems that CSK has worked on this and hence, they have hired Magala. It is actually a good move and if the player comes well, he would help CSK do well.
