ENG vs NZ Live Update: An incredible 115 from Joe Root, which is undoubtedly one of his finest centuries

Over the course of the previous year and a half, Joe Root has been in incredible form, racking up hundreds and double centuries with ease. However, because of the circumstances surrounding the game and the fact that this was his first century scored in the fourth innings of a test, he will likely regard this century as the most significant of his career.

Even though New Zealand’s batting failed in their second innings, they were in a solid position to win the Test match because of the massive partnership that Daryl Mitchell and Tom Blundell had put up.

In their first innings, England was bowled out for only 141, and as a result, the target score of 277 seemed to be out of their grasp from the very beginning. It was inevitable that Root would play an important part. He executed his duties to perfection.

Root maintained his cool even though England was reduced to 69/4 at one stage. He and Stokes, the captain, formed a significant partnership of 90 runs. After the removal of Stokes, the Kiwis were seen as the favorites with a score of 159/5.

Nevertheless, Root made sure that he was there until the very end. Together with Ben Foakes, they led England to a comfortable victory.
