3 players who could be released by LSG after they signed Devdutt Padikkal

In a surprising move, Lucknow Super Giants acquired the services of Devdutt Padikkal in a trade move on Wednesday. It was Avesh Khan who was the other player involved in the move. Avesh will represent Rajasthan Royals in the next campaign. Here, we take a look at the list of three players who could be released by LSG after they signed Devdutt Padikkal.

1) Deepak Hooda

It appears that Devdutt Padikkal could be used at No.3 by the franchise. In that case, it is likely that Deepak Hooda would be released by the franchise.

Deepak did not have a memorable campaign last season. Not only did he lose his spot in the LSG XI, Deepak was also dropped from Team India. The player is yet to make a strong return since then. He might prefer a new environment to get his career back on track.

2) Karun Nair

Karun Nair is one of the players who could be released by LSG after they signed Devdutt Padikkal. Nair was one of the replacement signings for LSG last season.

While he hardly got a chance to impress last season, Nair was not at his very best in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023. He is also someone who can don a middle-order role. Hence, with DDP’s arrival, the cricketer might have to make way.

3) Manan Vohra

As per reports, Quinton de Kock might also be released by LSG. If that happens, we could see KL Rahul and Devdutt Padikkal opening the batting for LSG.

Manan Vohra has done well in the IPL before. However, he has not had frequent chances recently. As an opener, LSG might target a new face. They could also have their eyes on someone like Sameer Rizvi. With Ayush Badoni also in the setup, Manan could see his chances further dwindle. Hence, he could be released.
