“Eddie Guerrero would have been proud of that”- Fans react to a Frog doing a Frog Splash In A Wrestling Ring

Recently, Logan Paul put in a full-stretched Frog Splash to put Cody Rhodes to rest at the King and Queen of the Ring in Jeddah. Despite the American Nightmare surviving that hellish leap on the commentary table, yet this is one move which has established itself to be a major staple.

Irrespective of the brands or promotions, this one move has been an absolute blockbuster and such is the magnitude of greatness for this splash, that no matter what form of wrestling you bring into the ring, you would still use the splash at the end of the day.

Of course it goes without a saying that Eddie Guerrero and RVD were the ones who popularised this move to the current generation with help from the likes of Rey Mysterio, the Usos, Kevin Owens and AJ Styles. The list is certainly longer. However, it didn’t really find its roots through them.

The first man to use Frog Splash was Mexican grappler, Arturo Casco Hernandez who adapted the ring-name La Fiera. He was a Luchador and splashes in the ring are very commonplace there. With the rise of Legado de Fantasma and the return of the Latino World Order, we are getting to see a lot more of those moves.

Despite La Fiera inventing Frog Splash, it was Art Barr who perfected it but his career was cut short tragically in 1994 due to his unfortunate and untimely demise. However, it was his tag-team partner who revolutionized this move and he was no one else than Eddie Guerrero.

Just in case if you are wondering how effective this is, to make it clear, this isn’t your regular finisher. It is the prelude to a finisher. For example, Randy Orton would use the DDT from the ropes before a RKO for a perfect finish. Similarly, CM Punk would do a splash before a GTS on his opposition.
