Drew McIntyre Reveals Honest Opinion Of Winning WWE Championship In Front Of 0 Fans At WrestleMania 36

Drew McIntyre has ascended from a mid-card attraction to one of the marquee WWE superstars on the roster today.

The man who was released by the company back in 2014, reinvented himself in the outside world, came back to WWE and became a top fixture. He recently reflected back on his first major win back in WWE i.e winning his first World Championship at WrestleMania 36.

What did Drew McIntyre have to say about his first World Championship win?

Drew McIntyre won the 2020 Royal Rumble match and dethroned then-WWE Champion Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36 to win his first World Championship. However, McIntyre’s moment of glory came at an empty WWE Performance Center due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a recent interview on The Masked Man Show, McIntyre reflected back on his first WWE Championship victory. He called it a necessity at the time, though admitting the fact that it was not something he dreamed his first World Championship win would look like i.e being in front of no audience.

“It’s not what I dreamed of when I was a kid, obviously. I didn’t sit there in Scotland fantasizing that one day I’m gonna main event WrestleMania and win the World title and nobody’s gonna be there. But it was just a necessity for the time,” McIntyre said.

Drew McIntyre led the charge during the pandemic as one of the most dominant and top title holders in WWE. He would eventually win the World Heavyweight Championship in front of a sell-out stadium at WrestleMania 40, only to have his title reign ended in minutes, courtesy of his rival, CM Punk.

McIntyre did beat CM Punk at SummerSlam, but their rivalry seems far from over. The heated rivals are set to collide once again at WWE’s next Premium Live Event, Bash in Berlin. However, this time, Punk and McIntyre will battle each other in a Strap match.
