The former Indian all-rounder Ajay Jadeja has urged the BCCI to give Rahul Dravid enough space to work and build a strong Indian team, keeping the future in mind.
Rahul Dravid is going to take over as India’s head coach after the T20 World Cup 2021 and India will play the next two white-ball World Cups under him. However, he has taken up the job at a very tricky time, with Virat Kohli having resigned as India’s T20 captain and India’s T20 team in shambles at the moment.
There is not much time left for the next T20 World Cup which will be held in a year’s time in Australia and not only does the Indian selectors need to decide who will lead the team in the next T20 World Cup, a fair bit of reshuffle needs to be done in terms of team combination as well.
Ajay Jadeja believes team India should move forward with Rahul Dravid’s vision
Ajay Jadeja says he is wondering who should be given the authority to decide India’s next T20 captain, the selectors or Rahul Dravid because the purpose of Rahul Dravid’s appointment can be fulfilled only if he is given the authority to work according to his own vision.
Jadeja insists that a person like Rahul Dravid doesn’t need to be told how he should run the Indian team, he just needs to be given the freedom to go about the job the way he wants without any interference.
“If you have brought Rahul Dravid, the biggest name, then at least go with his vision. This is my request to the board. Don’t tell him how to run the team,” Jadeja said when asked about Dravid’s appointment on Cricbuzz.
Jadeja, Who also captained the Indian team for a brief period of time in the 90s, knows Dravid well as the two of them have played a lot of cricket together for India. Both Jadeja and Dravid were part of the Indian squad for ODI World Cup 1999.
