India’s assignment after the T20 World Cup will be the tour of New Zealand. Against the Kiwis, the men in blue will be involved in ODIs and T20Is. While regulars such as Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli have been rested, even Dinesh Karthik did not find a place. It is not sure if he has injury issues or if India has decided to move on. Indian T20I squad for New Zealand T20Is gets announced
A year ago, the wicketkeeper slot in Team India was reserved for Rishabh Pant. Ishan Kishan was his backup. However, after IPL 2022, the tables turned. Dinesh Karthik started doing well for India and became the first-choice wicketkeeper. However, DK is 37 years old and his time in the squad would have come with an expiry date.
For the T20Is against the Kiwis, Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson have been selected. Since DK only plays T20Is, there is no question about rest. There is no news about injury so far. Hence, it is clear that Dinesh Karthik may not be a part of the plans for the future.
