Hardik Pandya was appointed as the captain of the Ahmedabad IPL franchise a few days ago. He recently sat down for a conversation with Boria Majumdar. In this article, we take a look at the snippets of the interview in which Hardik Pandya talks about MSD’s influence on his career.
Hardik Pandya talks about MSD’s influence
Amongst the many points discussed was Hardik’s view of the leadership role. It is here that he revealed how MS Dhoni shaped his career. He said, “When I came there, I was like ‘Mahendra Singh Dhoni will look after everything.’ At that time, I thought why he’s not saying a lot of things. I thought he’ll tell me to bowl here or bowl there. Later, I realized he wanted me to learn on my own so, I can survive more.”
The Baroda-based all-rounder further added, “I have learnt a lot from everyone and especially Mahi bhai because when I went there (Indian team), I was a raw material. The way he groomed me, the way he gave me a lot of freedom. He wanted me to learn from my own mistakes.”
So is he bowling full tilt? Will he be the all rounder India wants him to be in the @IPL ? Who is his role model as leader? @hardikpandya7 candid and forthright on all things and his leader mentor @msdhoni #BackstageWithBoria @R1SEWorldwide pic.twitter.com/y2f1JSk7u6

Team India needs Hardik to return to his peak fitness
Meanwhile, as per various reports, Hardik is working hard to return to Team India as an all-rounder. In recent months, Hardik has not bowled. His batting form was underwhelming and hence, many questioned his place in the team.
While it is important for Hardik to make a comeback, it is necessary for India to have him back. Hardik at his peak fitness will add invaluable balance to the XI. The No.6 role is currently giving problems to India in the limited-overs game. While finishing games has been difficult for the newcomers, none of them also have an additional skill. However, Hardik ticks both these boxes. Hence, it is important that he returns at the earliest in full fitness.
