Deepak Hooda on the brink of creating new world record in the ODI series between India and Zimbabwe

Deepak Hooda made his international debut for India in white ball cricket less than a year ago

It’s not been long since Deepak Hooda made his debut in international cricket and played his first match for India, but he is already on the brink of breaking a world record, which might come across as a bit of a surprise for some people.

Deepak Hooda has represented India only in white ball cricket so far and he has been in and out of the team even in the white ball formats. But, whichever game Hooda has played for India, India has managed to win that game.

Hooda has played 5 One Day Internationals and 9 T20Is for India till now and India has won all those 14 games. This is already a record among the players of the full nations of ICC, because no player from a full nation yet has won as many games straight since his debut as Hooda has won with India. But, Hooda is still one game behind the Romanian international Satvik Nadigotla who won 15 games straight since his debut. Satvik is, however, a player from an associate nation of ICC.

Deepak Hooda can go past Satvik Nadigotla and create a world record of winning most number of matches straight since debut if he plays in the first two ODIs against Zimbabwe and India manages to win both the games.

Deepak Hooda is almost a guaranteed selection in India’s playing XI for first two ODIs against Zimbabwe

Hooda’s selection in India’s playing XI for the first two ODIs against Zimbabwe looks fairly certain because India are playing with their second string side and Hooda has strongly established himself as one of the back-ups whenever the first string players are not available.

The reason why Hooda becomes an automatic pick in both the ODI and T20I XI of India whenever there is a vacancy caused by unavailability of the first string players is because apart from his batting, Hooda can be very handy with the ball as well. He has the allround skill-set which none of the top 5 Indian batsmen offers at this point of time.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
