Chennai Super Kings (CSK), one of the most successful franchises in the history of IPL, have decided to launch Super Kings Academy, the branches of which will be opened in different parts of Tamil Nadu, India and rest of the world in the months and years to come.
The academy is starting with two branches, one in Chennai and one in Salem, but the plan of the franchise is to have many more branches in the future and spot the young talent at the junior level.
CSK has been organising age group tournaments at the school level for quite some time now and has spotted many talents through their “Junior Super Kings” tournament, but now with their academy, they will be looking to groom and develop talented young players and help them get introduced to professional cricket at the senior level.
The CSK management revealed that the franchise will have BCCI accredited coaches at the academy, apart from all the modern infrastructure and facilities available for the young kids. The registration for the academy has already started on the official website of CSK from today.

Some of the reputed Indian and international players, who are a part of the current CSK squad or have played for CSK in the past, might also deliver guest lectures in the super kings academy. The batting coach of CSK, Michael Hussey, has said that he is already excited about the concept of the academy developing young kids who might go on to play for CSK in the future.

Apart from CSK, the other IPL franchises have also been planning about launching their own academies and some of them have already launched them. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have been running their academy for a couple of years now and have allowed injured and out-of-form players of their first squad to train there in the off-season.
