“My Dream Opening Partner Will Be Rohit Sharma,” Says IPL 2022 Orange Cap Owner Jos Buttler

IPL 2022 has been one of the best seasons for England’s star wicket-keeper batter Jos Buttler, while it has not been the same for Rohit Sharma. Playing for the Rajasthan Royals team this season, Buttler has already smashed two centuries. He is currently at the top of the ‘Most Runs’ leaderboard and owns the IPL 2022 Orange Cap.

In a recent interview with ESPNCricinfo, Jos Buttler was asked to name his dream opening partner from the current era of batters. He named the Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma as his dream opening partner.

Fans should note that Sharma and Buttler have played together for the Mumbai Indians in the past. However, the Mumbai-based franchise did not retain Buttler ahead of the IPL 2018 Mega Auction. Rajasthan Royals roped him in at the auction and since then, he has been an integral part of the Jaipur-based franchise.

Jos Buttler scored a fine century against Rohit Sharma’s team in IPL 2022

As mentioned ahead, the star England wicket-keeper batter has hit two hundreds in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. The first one came against his former team Mumbai Indians in an afternoon match.

Rohit Sharma heaped praise on Buttler for his match-winning knock in the battle against Mumbai Indians. Here’s what Sharma said after the game:

“Buttler played an exceptional knock. We tried everything to dismiss him, but he played very well. Look, we wanted the batters to hit on the longer side of the boundary, but it is very challenging to bowl to quality players.”

It seems highly unlikely that Jos Buttler or Rohit Sharma would be released by Rajasthan Royals or Mumbai Indians at any point in their IPL careers. Thus, the chances of seeing Buttler opening the innings with Sharma are negligible.
